DEBUTANTS DIFFICULT START

Lincoln Moorlands railway handed first team debuts to youngsters Josh Langtry and Steve John in Saturday's difficult away fixture against Selby.

John partnering Adam Gilbert in the centre of defence had an impressive debut and it was no surprise, after he had to come off with an injury, that the scoreline, 2-1 at the time, got considerabely worse for 'The Moors'.

Forward Langtry marked his hard working debut with a well taken goal just before the half time whistle to put Moorlands right back in the game.

Both players look like real finds by manager Darren Dye and if the continue to show the same attitude as in Saturday's game will both be great aquisitions to the squad. For a full match report from the Selby game click on the 'reports' link.

FIXTURE ALTERATION

Lincoln Moorlands Railway's away fixture against Winterton has been re-arranged due to Winteron's involvement in the FA Cup. The tie that was originally due to be played on Saturday 13th September has now been re scheduled for Wednesday 8th October. THE ROAD TO WEMBLEY

Lincoln Moorlands Railway take a break from the NCEL premier division on Saturday (16th August) as they travel to Peterborough to take on Yaxley in the preliminary round of the FA cup.

After a very difficult start in the league that has resulted in two home defeats aginst strongly fancied Pickering and Hallam 'The Moors' players can look forward to taking part in the most prestigous cup competition in the world, and hopefully coming away with a positive result.

THE BIG KICK OFF

Finally it is here, after a couple of months of training and build up Lincoln Moorlands Railway are now ready to begin their league campaign.

Manager Darren Dye finds his squad stretched as Paul Bartle is out injured, Nick Robinson is suspended and Dean Dye is unavailable, Dominic Jennings faces a late fitness test after straining his back.

It will undoubtably be a big test for Dye's young squad, many of whom will be making their debut at this level of football, but, as they have proved in pre-season games aginst Grantham, Brigg Town & in their first game against Lincoln United on their day they are more than a match for anyone.

'BARTS' OUT FOR A MONTH

In Lincoln Moorlands Railway's final training session before the big kick off left back Paul Bartle suffered a freak injury that will keep him on the sidelines for at least a month. Paul has strained his ankle ligaments and will prove a big loss to manger Darren Dye in the crucial early part of the season as he has settled into the side well and looks like a valuable aquisition.

LOCAL RIVALS GAIN REVENGE

Local rivals Lincoln United gained revenge for their earlier pre season defeat against 'The Moors' in a hastily arranged pre season friendly on Wednesday 6th August. For further details please click on the 'reports' link.

FUND RAISERS WANTED

RE MATCH V LINCOLN UNITED

Lincoln Moorlands Railway will play Lincoln United at Ashby Avenue on Wednesday 6th August (Kick-off 7.45) in a hastily arranged pre-season fixture.

As both teams have had to cancel some warm up games managers Darren Dye and Seamus Lawless agreed to the fixture as they both look to put the final touches to their preperations for the new season.

FIXTURE CANCELATION

'The Moors' are trying to arrange a final pre season fixture before the start of the season on Saturday 9th August and if anyone can help plaese contact Nick Robinson on e-mail address nickrobinson-stamford@hotmail .co.uk

FIRST DEFEAT INFLICTED

Shepshed Dynamo, of the Unibond Division One inflicted Lincoln Moorlands Railway's first pre season defeat of the season with a 5-0 victory at Newark Road. Although the score line seams harsh 'The Moors' accounted themselves well, with a much changed side from previous games, especially in a first half in which they where only 1-0 down at the break.

Injuries and work commitments along with general wear and tear meant manager Darren Dye had nowhere near a full strength squad to choose from and he even had to make an appearance himself, addding his vast experience to play in the back four. Keeper Phil McGann helped out as well making an appearance up front in the second half when Paul Bartle had to come of injured.

For a full match report click on the 'reports' link.

FIXTURE CANCELLATION

Lincoln Moorlands Railway's home friendly against Gedling Town on Thursday 31st August has been cancelled. Gedling contacted the club this week to ask if the fixture could be called off and after 'The Moors' heavy pre season schedule first team manager Darren Dye agreed to the request.

'TWIGGY' MOVES ON

Mark Curtis played his last game for 'The Moors' on Saturday against Lincoln United, as due to work commitments he is leaving the area.

'Twiggy' is taking up a post at Cardiff City as part of the staff who analyse match statistics/players performance and therfore is moving down to Wales.

All the players and staff at Lincoln Moorlands Railway would like to wish Mark all the best in this venture and also thank him for the performances he has put in during his brief spell at the club.

It is a real shame to be losing a player of 'Twiggy's' ability as he has shown in the pre season games what a threat going forward he can be.

Hopefully he should be back at the club next seson not only as player but also armed with a lot of 'info' on how to help Darren Dye analyse the performance of the players at Moorlands!

'THE MOORS' WIN LOCAL DERBY

Lincoln Moorlands Railway earned local bragging rights over their neighbours Lincoln United in a pre seson friendly at Ashby Avenue on Saturday 26th July.

In an evenly contested encounter 'Th Moors' eventually came out on top to record a 2-1 victory in the sweltering heat.

For a full match report click on the 'Reports' link.

OLD FOES OPPOSE EACH OTHER IN LOCAL DERBY

Former St. Hugh's team mates Seamus Lawless & Darren Dye go head to head tomorrow when Lincoln United entertain Lincoln Moorlands Railway at Ashby Avenue (Kick-off 1.00).

Lawless in his first season in senior management will be keen to put one over his old team mate Dye, who is going into his second season in charge at Newark Road.

Both sides will field a number of local players, many of whom will be playing against their former team mates as there has been a lot of transfer activity between the two clubs in the last few weeks.

An interesting encounter is on the cards, especially as the teams are as evenly matched as ever in terms of League status with Lincoln United currently only one step above 'The Moors' in the non-league pyramid.

ANOTHER UNIBOND 'SCALP'
